Bornova's Historic Muscat Grapes Achieve Official Registration

Bornova's centuries-old heritage is being celebrated and protected, with its unique Muscat grapes now officially registered and recognized. This achievement stems from the Bornova Municipality's commitment to supporting local producers and safeguarding geographically indicated products.

The Urla Bağ Yolu Association played a pivotal role, meticulously cultivating Bornova Muscat Grapes using a combination of traditional and scientific techniques. Rigorous laboratory and field inspections confirmed the authenticity of the cultivation methods, ensuring the grapes are preserved true to their origins for future generations.

"We have a history as deep-rooted as our elders, as sweet as our children, and as beautiful as our youth," stated Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki during a visit to the association. He expressed a strong desire to expand the production of these grapes, making them a classic taste within Bornova itself. The mayor also shared that the municipality serves this unique grape juice to guests alongside coffee.

Mayor Eşki envisions a future where Bornova Muscat Grape products are available in all cafes and restaurants across the city. He extended his gratitude to the association's president and all those who have dedicated significant effort to sustaining the grape's existence, calling them invaluable cultural heritage. The municipality aims to elevate the grape's economic and cultural value both nationally and internationally through the use of its registered logo.

To commemorate the successful registration and the efforts involved, Mayor Eşki presented certificates of appreciation to the members of the Urla Bağ Yolu Association. This initiative underscores the municipality's dedication to preserving and promoting its significant cultural assets.
