Mazda CX-5 third generation to start pre-sales in Taiwan on July 28

Mazda's highly anticipated third-generation CX-5 is set to launch in Taiwan, with pre-sales commencing on July 28 and the vehicles arriving at dealerships across the island on August 1. This new iteration boasts a significantly larger body compared to its predecessor, promising enhanced rear passenger space and overall comfort.

The exterior design continues Mazda's signature KODO 'Soul of Motion' language, with refinements to the 'KODO Soul of Motion' wing. Notably, the rear now features the MAZDA brand name in capital letters, replacing the traditional logo. Inside, the human-machine interface has been redesigned, integrating most functions into central touchscreens that will measure either 12.9 or 15.6 inches, depending on the trim level. This is complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, elevating the cabin's technological feel.

While Taiwan's official channels have not yet disclosed powertrain specifications, information from the Environmental Protection Administration's mobile source noise query database suggests a single 2.5-liter engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Whether the Taiwanese market will receive a mild-hybrid system remains to be seen and is expected to be revealed at the new car's launch. The interior's modern aesthetic is further emphasized by a reduction in physical buttons and knobs, with most controls consolidated into the central display.
