Mbappe hat-trick fires Real Madrid to top of La Liga

Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show as Real Madrid thrashed Real Sociedad 4-1, securing their second consecutive victory in the 2026/27 La Liga season. The French striker's treble at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday propelled Los Blancos to the summit of the league table.

Real Madrid started the match with aggressive intent, featuring an attacking trio of Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham. While Real Sociedad attempted counterattacks, notably through Mikel Oyarzabal, Madrid broke the deadlock in the 40th minute. Mbappe opened the scoring after finishing a pass from Federico Valverde, giving Madrid a 1-0 lead.

However, Real Sociedad managed to equalize just four minutes later. Luka Sucic found the back of the net from close range after an initial effort was blocked by Ibrahima Konate, leveling the score at 1-1 by halftime.

In the second half, Mbappe reasserted Madrid's dominance. He restored the lead in the 60th minute, converting a pass from Bellingham inside the penalty area. Vinicius Junior then extended Madrid's advantage eight minutes later, also assisted by Bellingham, making it 3-1.

Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute, chipping the goalkeeper after receiving a through ball from Vinicius Junior. This goal sealed the 4-1 victory and Mbappe's personal treble. Despite substitutions, Real Madrid maintained control, even having a fifth goal disallowed for offside.
