McIlroy fightback falls short as Clark rallies to win

Wyndham Clark secured victory at the BMW Championship, overcoming a late challenge from Rory McIlroy and holding off a final-round wobble. Clark entered the final day with a comfortable five-shot lead at Bellerive Country Club, but his advantage began to erode as he made three bogeys in the first 10 holes.

Rory McIlroy, starting the day five shots behind, appeared poised to capitalize. After a mixed start, McIlroy found his rhythm with three consecutive birdies around the turn, leveling the score with the leaders as they approached the final three holes. The momentum seemed to shift entirely to the Northern Irishman.

However, the tide turned dramatically on the 17th hole. McIlroy made a critical error, finding a bunker off the tee and failing to save par, which effectively ended his chances. Moments later, Clark birdied the 16th and then extended his lead on the 18th, finishing with a flourish to secure a four-shot victory over McIlroy.

Clark finished at 17-under par, with McIlroy ultimately tying for third place. Patrick Cantlay finished closest to Clark, while Collin Morikawa, Gary Woodland, and Chris Gotterup tied for fourth. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre posted the joint-best round of the day, a 65, which propelled him into seventh place and secured his spot in the upcoming Tour Championship.
