McLaren Unveils Classic Livery for 1,000th Grand Prix at Monaco

Jakarta, Indonesia – McLaren is preparing a special celebration for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix as Formula 1 reaches a significant milestone: the team's 1,000th race. This event also marks 60 years since McLaren's debut in the sport.

The Monaco circuit holds particular importance for McLaren, as it was the venue where team founder Bruce McLaren made his Formula 1 debut in 1966. Six decades later, the team, known as "Papaya," returns to the same location to commemorate its historic achievement of 1,000 F1 races. McLaren stated on its official social media that this milestone is a testament to the team's unwavering spirit and identity.

To honor this special occasion, drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will race with a unique, retro-inspired livery. The design merges McLaren's iconic papaya orange with black elements, symbolizing the team's long and storied journey in Formula 1. This celebration comes as McLaren strives to regain its position among the top contenders in the sport.

Despite being a former constructor champion, McLaren has not yet matched the dominant performance seen from other teams in the early part of the 2026 season. Currently, McLaren sits third in the constructor standings with 106 points, trailing the leading team significantly. In the driver standings, Norris is fifth with 58 points, and his teammate Oscar Piastri is sixth with 48 points.

The Monaco Grand Prix, scheduled for June 5-7, presents an opportunity for McLaren to both celebrate its rich history and reignite its chances in the current season's competition.
