Measles Deaths Reach 943 as Five More Fatalities Reported in 24 Hours

The country has recorded five additional deaths with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 AM today. This brings the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities for the year to 943.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all five recent deaths as suspected measles fatalities. This classification raises the cumulative number of suspected measles deaths to 844, while the count of confirmed deaths remains unchanged at 99.

During the same 24-hour period, 986 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, increasing the total number of suspected cases to 151,638. Additionally, 91 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total laboratory-confirmed infections to 18,578.

Data from the DGHS indicates that since March 15, a total of 132,554 patients presenting with suspected measles symptoms have been hospitalized across the country. Of these, a significant 127,811 patients have recovered.
