Media Group Forms Task Force to Oversee Village Newsrooms, Praised by Officials

The Indonesian Cyber Media Employers Association (SMSI) has officially launched a working group dedicated to overseeing Village Newsrooms in five provinces. This initiative, inaugurated at the Dewan Pers Hall in Jakarta, has garnered significant appreciation from prominent figures, including Presidential Special Envoy Hashim Djojohadikusumo and social observer Serian Wijaya.

This is an important momentum for cyber media to play an active role in overseeing the sustainability of the economy and transparency of village community development.

Hashim Djojohadikusumo emphasized the critical role of this working group in empowering cyber media to actively monitor village development and ensure economic sustainability. He stressed that the collaboration between media and village institutions is vital for promoting information transparency and bolstering the economic resilience of rural communities. Djojohadikusumo also expressed pride in the contributions of related organizations, noting their selfless dedication to national development.

Serian Wijaya echoed these sentiments, highlighting the integral role of Village Newsrooms in safeguarding Indonesia. Wijaya commended the proactive and selfless efforts of both the Formas and SMSI organizations, underscoring the strategic importance of cyber media in protecting the nation.

Furthermore, Wijaya lauded President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to media openness, which he believes has fostered a more conducive, healthy, and vibrant national press ecosystem. The establishment of the Newsroom Jaga Desa working group is seen as a significant step in strengthening local media's capacity and ensuring greater accountability in village development initiatives.
