Media Support Fund Announces Calls for 2027 Funding

The Lithuanian Media Support Fund has opened its 2027 funding calls, maintaining consistent financing rules to ensure clarity and predictability for media representatives. Ruslanas Iržikevičius, the Fund's director, expressed satisfaction with the stable rules and highlighted efforts to continuously improve the financing process. The 2027 competition is being announced earlier than usual, accommodating applicants' desire for quicker notification of funding results, though the final announcement timeline will also depend on the state budget's approval.

A significant change for this application cycle is the introduction of a newly developed online platform for submitting applications. This platform is designed to offer a more convenient and seamless experience, enabling applicants to submit proposals, monitor their review progress, and sign contracts if successful. Given that this is a new submission method, applicants are advised not to wait until the last day to complete their forms. The Fund's administration is available to assist with any questions or issues that may arise.

The Fund will distribute financing across five distinct programs. Media representatives can apply for support in areas such as cultural media and periodicals, regional media, news, investigative and educational journalism, media in national minority languages, Lithuanian diaspora media, and a special program addressing lost income related to gambling restrictions between 2025-2027.

Expert evaluations will assess applications that meet administrative compliance requirements. The Fund's Council will then make the final decisions on funding allocation based on these expert recommendations. The Media Support Fund's mission is to support the creation and dissemination of high-quality, ethical, and politically neutral media content that is significant to Lithuanian society and the state, as well as to support the operations of editorial offices.
