Medical Intern Dies After Allegedly Jumping From 18th Floor Apartment in Jakarta

A medical intern, identified by the initials SZM, has died after allegedly jumping from the 18th floor of an apartment building in Kalibata, South Jakarta. The incident took place on Sunday, July 26, according to local police.

According to Kompol Mansur, the head of the Pancoran Police, the victim resided in the apartment with her mother. The events leading up to the alleged fall began when the mother invited SZM to go to the mall. The victim declined the invitation. After the mother left, Mansur stated, the door was locked from the inside by SZM, after which the victim allegedly jumped from the window.

Police are currently investigating the motive behind the death. They are exploring all possibilities, including potential work-related stress, although no definitive information has been gathered yet. Mansur mentioned that the family is in mourning, making it difficult to obtain further details regarding the circumstances or any contributing factors.

The police received a report of a person falling at the apartment complex around 2:10 PM on Sunday. Officers from the Pancoran Police Station responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation. The victim's body was subsequently transported to the RS Polri Kramat Jati hospital. Later that afternoon, the body was flown to the victim's hometown in Makassar.
