Medved on Pupovac's Accusations: 'I Can Only Comment on What I Saw'

Croatian Minister of Veterans Affairs Tomo Medved has sidestepped accusations of government inaction regarding alleged hate speech during the 'Operation Storm' commemoration in Knin. Milorad Pupovac, president of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), had criticized the government for not condemning hate speech and calls for violence reportedly heard at the event.

Medved, however, maintained that he could only comment on the official program for which he was responsible. "I can only comment on what I saw and what we organized and implemented," he stated, emphasizing his presence at the stadium throughout the official proceedings, which included a wake, mass, and wreath-laying ceremony. He suggested that media reports about events on the "margins" of the official program were outside his purview.

The minister also briefly touched upon the recent arrest of a Serbian hacker who allegedly infiltrated Croatian state information systems. While acknowledging awareness of the situation, Medved declined to provide further details due to the ongoing legal process. He commended the security and intelligence systems for their vigilance in protecting Croatia's interests.
