Medvedev issues fresh threats against Germany

Dmitry Medvedev has threatened German military-equipment factories and suggested that European politicians traveling to Kyiv could face danger, after Berlin accused Russia of involvement in an incident at Leipzig-Halle Airport.

They deserve a direct strike on all German military-equipment factories producing equipment for the Bandera clique. It is quite possible that it could happen somewhere else in Berlin.

Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, called Germany’s policy “Russophobic” and described the airport incident as “staged sabotage.” He wrote that German factories producing military equipment for Ukraine “deserve a direct strike,” adding that an attack could happen “somewhere else in Berlin.”

He also responded to statements about possible attacks on civil aviation in Russian airspace. Medvedev called those statements “a declaration of state terrorism by the Bandera regime” and said Russia would respond with “revenge.” He accused Western leaders of supporting terrorism, singling out European politicians who regularly travel to Kyiv. He ended with a warning: “And they often travel to Kyiv by train.”

Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Russian involvement in the airport incident was clear. Dobrindt said the drone configuration and explosives matched methods used in other Russian attacks, while police and intelligence findings pointed to Russia and to lower-level agents carrying out the operation.

Wadephul said Russia’s Consulate General in Bonn and the Russian House in Berlin would be closed. Germany would also increase pressure on Russia’s shadow fleet. On Aug. 4, a drone carrying explosives and a detonator was found in the security area of Leipzig-Halle Airport among Ukrainian cargo planes. A second unidentified object later collided with a DHL cargo aircraft, forcing it to abort its landing because the runway had closed. Investigators subsequently found a third drone. Federal prosecutors called the incident “a serious attack on Germany’s transport and logistics infrastructure.”
