Mektić and Krajicek reach quarterfinals in Washington

Croatian tennis player Nikola Mektić, alongside his American partner Austin Krajicek, has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament held in Washington D.C. This event marks the beginning of the summer North American tour.

The doubles duo demonstrated a strong performance in their first-round match, overcoming the Spanish-American pairing of Rafael Jofre and Brandon Nakashima. Mektić and Krajicek secured a decisive victory with a score of 6-4, 6-4, advancing smoothly to the next stage of the competition.

In the singles competition, notable progress was also made by Chile's Alejandro Tabilo and Italy's Lorenzo Musetti. Tabilo advanced by defeating Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in a three-set match, with a final score of 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4. Meanwhile, Musetti was leading his match against Matteo Arnaldi 6-0, 3-1 when his Italian compatriot was forced to retire due to injury, granting Musetti passage to the next round.
