Melaka Election: Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional Cooperation Still Under Review

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is in the process of evaluating potential electoral alliances for the upcoming Melaka state election, with cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) remaining under consideration. PH Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed the party's openness to forming partnerships for the elections.

Anwar, however, clarified that recent discussions with PH Election Director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari were not focused on pre-election cooperation for Melaka. He explained that Amirudin has been entrusted with the task of working out the details of potential collaborations. Anwar also addressed his meeting with the Selangor Menteri Besar, stating it was in the context of the Malaysian Games (Sukma) and not for political discussions.

"The space for cooperation in life must exist. This is all cooperation," Anwar told reporters after attending a National Maulidur Rasul celebration in Serdang. He emphasized the general importance of collaboration, suggesting it is a constant consideration for the party. Previously, Anwar had indicated that the PH election committee would discuss the possibility of working with BN for the Melaka polls, with the committee led by Amirudin and Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
