Melaka flood victims rise to 989; Melaka Tengah most affected

Flood victims in Melaka, Malaysia, have increased to 989 individuals from 314 families, with the Melaka Tengah district bearing the brunt of the disaster. As of 7:00 AM, six temporary evacuation centers are operational across Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah districts.

Melaka Tengah alone is sheltering 969 victims from 308 families in four centers. The SK Tanjung Minyak 2 school has the highest number of evacuees, accommodating 716 people from 227 families, followed by SK Taman Bukit Rambai with 186 victims from 55 families. Other centers include Japerun Pantai Kundor and SJK (C) Bertam Ulu.

In Alor Gajah, 20 victims from six families have been moved to two evacuation centers. The Perkim Masjid Tanah center houses 15 victims from five families, while the Balairaya Kampung Seri Jeram is sheltering five victims from one family. Relevant agencies are continuing to monitor the affected areas and ensure the welfare of those in the evacuation centers.

Authorities are urging the public to adhere to official directives and remain vigilant due to the ongoing uncertain weather conditions.
