Men's Volleyball Team Defeats World No. 7 Brazil 3-1 in Friendly Match

South Korea's men's volleyball team achieved a significant upset victory, defeating world No. 7 Brazil 3-1 in a friendly match held in Jecheon, South Korea. The 26th-ranked Korean team rallied after losing the first set to secure the win with scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, and 25-20.

This crucial win comes as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026 Asian Championship and the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The friendly match provided valuable experience against a top international opponent, despite Brazil fielding a second-string team due to their participation in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

Opposite spiker Shin Ho-jin was the standout performer for South Korea, scoring an impressive 20 points. Outside hitters Lim Sung-jin and Jung Han-yong also contributed significantly, with 18 and 12 points respectively. While South Korea was out-blocked by Brazil (5-9), they held an advantage in service aces (7-4), demonstrating their offensive prowess.

The Korean team showed resilience, particularly in the second and third sets. After dropping the first set, they fought back to level the match. The third set was a close contest, with Korea coming from behind to edge out Brazil, setting the stage for their decisive victory in the fourth set. The two teams are scheduled to play a second friendly match on July 25.
