Mercedes C-Class Facelift: Enhanced AI Interaction and Powertrain Options

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class receives its most substantial technical update in history, marked externally by a distinctive illuminated grille and headlights featuring a star motif. However, the most significant advancements lie beneath the surface, signaling Mercedes' commitment to integrating advanced technology and user experience into its classic vehicle lineup.

A key innovation is the new MB.OS operating system, designed for over-the-air updates, ensuring the car gains new features throughout its lifespan. The MBUX virtual assistant has been significantly enhanced, now leveraging technologies like ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini. This allows for multi-stage conversations, context retention, and the ability to answer general questions, locate points of interest, or even identify music based on partial lyrics or descriptions, transforming the car into a more interactive digital assistant.

Despite the technological leap, Mercedes has opted against a full-width screen dashboard, retaining a classic interior layout. The driver faces a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, complemented by a central 11.9-inch vertical touchscreen. Navigation utilizes Google's system, with an optional augmented reality head-up display available, drawing from features seen in the S-Class and EQS. The cabin ambiance is further enriched by a 15-speaker Burmester 3D audio system with Dolby Atmos and sophisticated ambient lighting.

Mercedes continues to offer a diverse range of powertrains for the C-Class, including electrified gasoline and diesel engines, as well as plug-in hybrids. The manufacturer emphasizes that all units have been optimized for efficiency, performance, and compliance with future Euro 7 emissions requirements. For instance, the 2.0-liter gasoline engine integrates a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with a starter-generator providing up to 23 hp and 205 Nm, while an electric compressor improves low-end engine response. The top C 300 variant delivers 258 hp and 400 Nm.
