Mérida provides free prescription glasses to 527 children for back-to-school

In Mérida, Yucatán, 527 children and adolescents have received free prescription glasses to help them succeed as they return to school. This initiative is part of the "Ver Mejor" (See Better) program, which has now assisted a total of 11,500 individuals in vulnerable situations.

The program specifically targets children aged 6 to 12 who were previously assessed during visual health campaigns conducted in various neighborhoods and rural communities within the Yucatecan capital. Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada highlighted the program's goal: to address vision problems that can hinder learning while simultaneously alleviating the financial strain on families who would otherwise struggle to afford corrective eyewear.
