Merz, Macron, Starmer Meet Zelenskyy in London to Coordinate Russia Negotiation Stance

European leaders are converging in London for crucial talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, seeking to align their strategy on potential peace negotiations with Russia. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are meeting with Zelenskyy to discuss diplomatic avenues for ending the war.

Sources within the German government suggest a diplomatic window is gradually opening, making this London meeting a significant step in preparing a unified European stance for any future dialogue with the Kremlin. This effort comes as European capitals increasingly believe Russia cannot indefinitely avoid negotiations and that European states must play an active role.

The discussions follow Zelenskyy's recent proposal for a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to find a path to end the war. Zelenskyy also suggested involving European and U.S. representatives to provide guarantees for a peace process.

However, Putin has rejected the idea of an immediate meeting, describing Zelenskyy's letter as disrespectful and not conducive to high-level talks.
