Messages indicate Vorcaro sought changes to Brazil Journal reports

Messages taken from banker Daniel Vorcaro’s phone point to two occasions when he and former minister Fábio Faria acted on requests attributed to Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes about the content of news reports, according to an analysis by Brazil’s Federal Police.

In one episode, Vorcaro contacted Geraldo Samor, founder of Brazil Journal, during a London event on April 26, 2024. Police said Vorcaro told Samor that “Alexandre asked” for a report to include the information that “the three Supreme Court justices met privately with former prime minister Tony Blair.” The police report described the exchange as Vorcaro passing along an “Alexandre” request concerning a journalistic article.

The conversation took place during the Brazil Ideas Legal Forum in London, an event that Vorcaro helped organize. Other excerpts show him discussing Moraes’s attendance and requests with aides and Faria. Days earlier, Vorcaro had told another contact that he was organizing a “super-exclusive event with Alexandre de Moraes in London.” Brazil Journal did not respond to a request for comment before publication.

In a second episode, Vorcaro discussed another Brazil Journal report with Faria. He asked the former minister to check with “Alexandre” whether Moraes wanted to “change anything or add anything” to the text, and pressed for a quick response. Faria later replied that the content was fine and wrote, “you can release it.”

The exchanges form part of a 218-page Federal Police analysis based on data from the phone seized from Vorcaro during Operation Compliance Zero. The document was sent to STF Justice André Mendonça, who is overseeing the case. The analysis also says Faria shared Moraes’s phone number with Vorcaro in December 2023. Vorcaro later asked Moraes, two days before his arrest, whether he should already be “out” of the country and sought meetings about Banco Master. Vorcaro was arrested on Nov. 17, 2025, while preparing to board a private jet to Malta. The document separately examines Banco Master’s commercial relationship with a law firm belonging to Moraes’s wife. Police metadata identified Moraes as responsible for the last changes to versions of the contract, which provided for payments of up to 131 million reais. The law firm said it would respond, but the provided text ends before that response.
