Meteorology announces: August 12, 2026 weather report... How will the weather be today?

Turkey's General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued a weather forecast predicting a mixed pattern across the country. Northern and eastern regions are expected to see partly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The Mediterranean region's Taurus Mountains, central and eastern Black Sea coasts, and the Artvin and Sinop areas are particularly forecast to receive rainfall.

Significant rainfall is anticipated in the Samsun and Ordu provinces, where localized heavy downpours are expected. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution due to the potential for flash floods, transportation disruptions, lightning, and strong winds accompanying the precipitation. The MGM has issued a strong rainfall warning for these specific locations.

Temperatures nationwide are predicted to hover around seasonal averages, with some southern areas experiencing slightly higher temperatures. Winds will generally be light to moderate, coming from the north in most regions. However, stronger winds, ranging from 40-60 km/h, are expected along the southern Marmara coast and the northern Aegean coast, blowing from the north.
