Meteorology announces June 20, 2026 weather report: How will the weather be today?

Turkey's General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued a weather forecast for June 20, 2026, predicting a day of mixed conditions across the country. Many regions are expected to experience partly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast indicates that areas including the Aegean, Western and Central Mediterranean, Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, and several provinces like Kocaeli, Sakarya, Adana, Kastamonu, and Karabük will see rainfall. Notably, localized heavy downpours are anticipated in Afyonkarahisar, Denizli, Muğla, Isparta, and Burdur, as well as the inland parts of Antalya. These heavier showers bring a risk of flash floods, lightning, hail, and sudden strong winds, prompting MGM to advise caution and preparedness.

In addition to the precipitation, dust transport is expected in the southeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia and the eastern regions of Southeastern Anatolia. Meanwhile, temperatures are set to rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in the northwestern parts of the country, while remaining largely unchanged elsewhere. Winds will generally blow from the north in most areas, but from the south in the eastern parts. Stronger gusts, ranging from 40 to 60 km/h, are expected along the southwestern Marmara and North Aegean coasts, as well as in the southeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia.

Specific regional forecasts highlight these conditions. For instance, Istanbul is expected to have partly cloudy skies with a temperature range of 19°C to 27°C. Izmir will experience showers and thunderstorms with temperatures between 19°C and 31°C. Muğla is forecast to have partly cloudy skies with intermittent showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of localized heavy rainfall in the evening. The MGM has issued specific warnings for heavy rainfall and strong winds, urging residents in affected areas to take necessary precautions against potential adverse effects such as disruptions to transportation and localized flooding.
