Mexican Authorities Seize 800,000 Liters of Fuel in Puebla Raid

Authorities seized about 800,000 liters of hydrocarbon from a property in Huejotzingo, in Mexico’s Puebla state, during an investigation into suspected organized crime tied to the illegal fuel market.

The raid involved Mexico’s Navy and federal prosecutors, working with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and state oil company Pemex. Investigators said they identified suspected illegal storage and handling at a site used by a company involved in alternative-fuel manufacturing and sales.

Officials confiscated three tractor-trailers with storage tanks containing liquid product, along with computers, processing equipment, and documents. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office also collected dark and amber liquid samples for testing to determine their composition, origin, and nature.

The seized material was valued at 16.85 million pesos, or about $991,000. Authorities said the operation weakened the capacity for stealing, storing, and distributing hydrocarbons outside legal channels.

The property was sealed and placed under guard while prosecutors and forensic personnel processed the evidence. The authorities did not report any arrests or identify the company using the site. They said the investigation would continue to establish responsibility and determine where the fuel came from.
