Mexican avocado exports to U.S. climb 35% in four months

Mexican avocado exports to the United States experienced a substantial 35% increase in the first four months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Producers sent 501,824 tons of avocados from January to April this year, a notable rise from the 370,551 tons exported during the corresponding period last year.

March saw a particularly strong performance, with 148,511 tons shipped, marking a 57% increase over March 2025. This surge in exports highlights the competitiveness of Mexico's avocado production chain. The Ministry of Economy reported that avocados were Mexico's second-largest agri-food export to the U.S. in 2025, generating $3.65 billion and accounting for 8.1% of all Mexican agri-food exports to the U.S. market.

These export figures underscore Mexico's continued leadership as the world's primary supplier of avocados. The success also contributes significantly to the economic development of key exporting regions, including Michoacán, Jalisco, State of Mexico, and Nayarit. The Ministry emphasized that these results reflect the dedication of producers, packers, and exporters in meeting stringent international quality, health, and safety standards.
