Mexican Minister Highlights Professionalization of Alternative Justice Mechanisms

Mexico's justice system is increasingly embracing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, a trend highlighted by Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa. She emphasized the growing professionalism of these mechanisms within the Federal Judicial Power (PJF), positioning them as a vital avenue for resolving controversies. Esquivel noted that ADR not only provides a more agile and peaceful approach for individuals but also significantly alleviates the burden on traditional courts.

"The excellence and professionalism that characterize us as principles should contribute to promoting MASC in local justice, where they already have some roots," Esquivel stated, underscoring the potential for wider adoption. She was joined by prominent figures including the minister president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Hugo Aguilar Ortiz, and minister Loretta Ortiz Ahlf. Esquivel praised the PJF's leadership in the justice system, advocating for the expansion of ADR into local judicial systems.

Esquivel further commended the Judicial Administration Body, led by Néstor Vargas Solano, and the president of the Public Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms, Hilvia Angélica Díaz Garay. Their efforts, she explained, are broadening access to justice in Mexico and fostering a new culture centered on collaborative conflict resolution. This approach empowers parties to actively participate in constructing solutions, promoting understanding and mutual respect alongside efficient outcomes.
