Mexican Producer Luis de Llano Arrested for Defying Court Order

Mexican producer Luis de Llano was arrested in Mexico City after failing to comply with court orders tied to Sasha Sokol’s civil case, according to reporting confirmed by El Universal.

The arrest took place at about 6:13 p.m. and followed two orders issued by a judge of the Superior Court of Justice. Each order imposes 15 hours of administrative arrest, to be served consecutively at the San Fernando Center for Administrative Sanctions and Social Integration.

The measures stem from two alleged failures to comply with the judgment. De Llano declined to record and submit to the court a public apology addressed to Sokol. He also declined to publish a summary of the ruling that confirmed his responsibility for moral damages after determining that Sokol had been sexually abused as a minor.

The case began in 2022, after Sokol challenged De Llano’s statements that they had a romantic relationship when she was 14 and he was 39. She filed a civil lawsuit for moral damages in July 2022. A Mexico City judge ruled in her favor in May 2023, ordering financial compensation and a public apology. The judgment was upheld by the Superior Court of Justice’s Seventh Civil Chamber in September that year.

De Llano later sought an injunction from Mexico’s Supreme Court, arguing that the events were time-barred. On June 25, 2025, the Court’s First Chamber unanimously rejected the request and left the civil judgment in place. The ruling also set a precedent favoring victims of child sexual crimes by recognizing that claims for damages through this route are not subject to a statute of limitations.
