Mexican Senate President Castillo Hospitalized Awaiting Ankle Surgery

Laura Itzel Castillo, the president of the Senate of the Republic in Mexico, is continuing her hospitalization as she recovers from a fractured ankle. Medical specialists have advised that she must wait for the swelling to decrease before undergoing surgery to properly address the injury.

Castillo, who is also a senator for the Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party, shared her optimism about the situation via X (formerly Twitter). She stated that the specialists informed her about the necessity of waiting for the inflammation to reduce before the surgical intervention. Consequently, she anticipates remaining hospitalized for a few more days.

Despite her current condition, Castillo has continued to attend to the Senate's agenda. She had previously reported on August 11 that she would keep managing her senatorial duties.
