Mexican Singer Belinda Joins 'Toy Story 5' Spanish Voice Cast

Mexican singer Belinda is lending her voice to 'Lilypad', a new character in the Spanish-language version of Disney and Pixar's 'Toy Story 5'. The announcement was made by Belinda via a video shared on her social media, filmed at Pixar studios in San Francisco.

"Hello, I'm here at the Pixar studios in San Francisco and I'm very excited to tell you that I'm going to be the voice of 'Lilypad' in Disney and Pixar's 'Toy Story 5'," the artist revealed. Belinda's character is described as an electronic tablet, an antagonist crucial to the film's plot.

'Lilypad' is central to exploring how electronic devices capture children's attention, potentially overshadowing traditional toys like Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, who are mainstays of the 'Toy Story' saga. Belinda's casting places her alongside other international stars in the Spanish voice cast, including Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny as 'Pizza con Gafas de Sol' and Argentine producer Bizarrap as 'Gnomo de Jardín'. Spanish actress Penélope Cruz will voice a character named 'Flamenco'.

The film is directed by Andrew Stanton, a two-time Oscar winner for 'Finding Nemo' and 'Finding Dory', with co-direction by McKenna Harris. Randy Newman, also an Oscar winner, returns to compose the score. 'Toy Story 5' is set to premiere on June 17, continuing the legacy of the groundbreaking computer-animated franchise that began in 1995. The sequels 'Toy Story 3' and 'Toy Story 4' each grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
