Mexican wanted for femicide captured at Colombian airport

A Mexican citizen, sought by Interpol for femicide, was apprehended upon arrival at Colombia's José María Córdova International Airport. The man arrived on a commercial flight from Mexico City and was detained during routine immigration checks.

Migración Colombia officials identified the individual as a wanted fugitive through their verification processes. The man, whose identity has not been released, was handed over to the relevant authorities to proceed with the extradition and legal procedures required by Mexico. Gloria Esperanza Arriero, director general of Migración Colombia, emphasized the agency's role in regional security, stating that such operations contribute to the safety of Antioquia, particularly Medellín and its metropolitan area.

Arriero also noted that Migración Colombia is intensifying efforts to combat sexual exploitation and has been deporting foreign nationals who violate immigration laws or pose a risk to public safety and coexistence. The agency reported that in the past month, eight individuals have been placed at the disposal of authorities in the Antioquia-Chocó region, including a Dutch national wanted for drug trafficking and several Colombians sought for various crimes.
