Mexico arrests six suspected Jalisco cartel enforcers

Mexican authorities apprehended six suspected members of Los Deltas, the armed wing of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), in Zapopan, Jalisco. The operation, conducted under three search warrants, also resulted in the seizure of significant assets.

Officials reported the confiscation of 10 long guns, three handguns, ammunition, doses of synthetic drugs, four motorcycles, a van, a car, cash, tactical gear, and communication equipment. The individuals arrested were identified as Jeremi Carlos Sánchez Barbosa, Genaro García Zárate, Ángel Daniel Valdez Hernández, Jesús Javier Ruiz Montoya, Eric Daniel Martínez Huerta, and a minor.

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) described Los Deltas as a criminal network involved in robbery, extortion, drug dealing, and homicide, operating as the CJNG's armed force. This capture follows closely on the heels of the U.S. government imposing sanctions on 55 Mexican entities and individuals allegedly connected to the CJNG, which the Trump administration designated a foreign terrorist organization last year. The CJNG is recognized as one of the world's most dangerous criminal organizations.
