Mexico City Cablebús Lines 4 and 5 completion dates revealed

Mexico City's ambitious Cablebús expansion continues, with officials confirming timelines for new aerial metro lines. The secretary of Works and Services (Sobse), Raúl Basulto, announced that Line 5, which will link the Mixcoac transport hub in Álvaro Obregón with La Magdalena Contreras, is slated for completion by mid-2028.

This project represents a significant investment, with Line 5 alone requiring an estimated 7.8 billion pesos. The infrastructure will span 15 kilometers, encompassing stations and columns across approximately 46,657 square meters. Construction for Line 5 is expected to commence in late 2025 and conclude in mid-2028, a timeline of about 2.5 years.

Meanwhile, Lines 4 and 6 are also progressing. Line 4 will connect Cetram Universidad in Coyoacán to Pedregal de San Nicolás in Tlalpan, while Line 6 will run from Tláhuac to Milpa Alta. These lines are projected to finish by December 2027, adding further connectivity to the city's growing public transportation network.
