Mexico City closes San Juan de Aragón Balneario over alcohol and animal sales

The Balneario de San Juan de Aragón in Mexico City has been shut down by the Secretariat of the Environment (Sedema) following the discovery of multiple violations. Specialized personnel from Sedema, accompanied by city police, inspected the facility to ensure compliance with its administrative permit (SEDEMA/DGSANPAVA/003/2022).

During the inspection, officials identified several irregularities, including the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the commercialization of pets. These activities are prohibited within the balneario and have prompted immediate action from the authorities. The findings led to the notification of procedures for the facility's eviction and closure.

The General Directorate of Inspection and Animal Surveillance will now be responsible for assessing the situation. This includes determining appropriate measures, potential sanctions, and necessary actions to address any environmental impacts resulting from the activities. The goal is to ensure the protection and welfare of any animals that may have been involved or present at the site.
