Mexico City receives over 21.6 million cubic meters of rain; flooding cleared

Mexico City experienced significant rainfall, accumulating over 21.6 million cubic meters of water in the 24-hour period from August 23 to August 24, as reported by the Secretariat for Integral Water Management (Segiagua).

The agency confirmed that all flooding on major roadways has been resolved. Pluviometric stations recorded substantial rainfall, with Tetelco in Tláhuac registering the highest amount at 26.25 millimeters. Other areas, including Milpa Alta in Mexico City and Los Reyes and Temamatla in the State of Mexico, also saw significant precipitation.

In response to the heavy rains, Segiagua deployed 132 personnel, including engineers and drainage specialists, supported by 54 pieces of machinery. This included emergency pumping vehicles and specialized units for clearing blockages. The Heroic Fire Department also reported addressing issues such as fallen trees, a power pole, and several short circuits.

Despite the substantial rainfall, Segiagua reported no damage to homes. The monitoring of dams, rivers, and waterways continues, with levels remaining stable. The accumulated rainfall in Mexico City from August 1 to August 24 has exceeded the historical monthly average, prompting the continued activation of surveillance and response protocols.
