Mexico City Unemployment Insurance: New Registration Opens August 11

The Mexico City government has announced a new registration period for its unemployment insurance program, offering a financial lifeline to residents who have lost their jobs.

The program provides a monthly stipend of 3,566.22 pesos for up to three months. It is designed for individuals who lost formal employment involuntarily and are seeking temporary support while re-entering the job market. Beyond financial aid, the initiative includes job training and placement services to help participants find new formal employment, acting as a social safety net.

Registration for this round opens exclusively online on Tuesday, August 11, from midnight to 11:59 PM. Applicants will need to use their Llave CDMX digital account to access the official program platform. Required documentation includes a valid official ID, CURP, a recent proof of address, and a document verifying job loss. The government also noted that applicants must have worked in Mexico City for at least six months and lost their job on or after January 1, 2023. They must also be between 18 and 64 years old and not receiving similar aid from the city government.

Authorities emphasized that the online registration will only be open for the specified date, and applications will be processed according to the program's operational rules. They advised applicants to prepare their documents in advance. A separate sub-program, "Seguro de Desempleo del Bienestar," is available for those lacking formal documentation of job loss, offering 3,300.53 pesos.
