Mexico City Water Agency Responds to Severe Flooding in Indios Verdes

Mexico City's water management agency, Segiagua, is actively responding to significant flooding and disruptions in the Indios Verdes area of the Gustavo A. Madero borough. The intense rainfall on Wednesday evening led to widespread water accumulation, affecting the transportation hub and surrounding streets.

Segiagua has dispatched a robust response team to the scene, comprising three Hercules units, an emergency team, and a hydropneumatic vehicle. The agency confirmed that the cleanup and mitigation efforts are underway. "Regarding the water accumulation in the Indios Verdes station area, it is already being addressed with three Hercules units, an emergency team, and a hydropneumatic vehicle," Segiagua stated.

The heavy rains caused several avenues and vehicular underpasses to flood, trapping numerous vehicles. A particularly critical point was the underpass on Avenida Insurgentes Norte, near the Indios Verdes Metro station, where water levels rose to approximately one meter around 8:00 PM, halting traffic towards the State of Mexico.

As of 9:45 PM, Segiagua reported that the response efforts at the Indios Verdes station had reached 70% completion. The flooding also led to the suspension of service on the Cablebús Line 1 due to an electrical storm, necessitating the evacuation of passengers.
