Rains Flood Insurgentes Norte and Indios Verdes CETRAM; Metrobús Modifies Northern Routes

Intense rainfall on Tuesday overwhelmed parts of Mexico City, leading to widespread flooding and severe traffic gridlock, especially in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. The Indios Verdes transportation hub (CETRAM) and its surrounding Insurgentes Norte avenue became heavily inundated, forcing significant disruptions to public transit.

The Metrobús system faced considerable operational challenges. Service was suspended on sections of Lines 1, 6, and 7. Specifically, Line 1 experienced disruptions between the Indios Verdes and Manuel González stations, while Line 7's operations were limited to the Campo Marte and Avenida Talismán segment due to traffic congestion near Indios Verdes. Line 6 was operating in two separate circuits: El Rosario to San Bartolo and Villa de Aragón to De Los Misterios, with the section between IPN and La Villa remaining out of service.

Beyond the Metrobús, regular bus routes also had to modify their operations. The severe traffic jams, a direct consequence of the flooding, paralyzed Insurgentes Norte near Indios Verdes and Puente de Ticomán. The city's Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat (SGIRPC) activated a Yellow Alert for the Gustavo A. Madero borough, anticipating continued heavy rains and possible hail until Wednesday evening.
