Mexico Extends Mobile Line Registration Deadline for Numbers Ending in '1'

Mexico's Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) has announced an extended deadline for the registration of mobile phone lines, offering a final opportunity for users whose numbers end in '1' to comply. The new deadline is August 31, 2026. This measure is part of a broader initiative to formalize mobile line registration across the country.

Individuals who fail to complete the registration process by the stipulated date risk having their services suspended, which includes calls, text messages, and mobile data. The CRT has emphasized that these new dates are the sole opportunities to complete the procedure. For users encountering technical difficulties that prevent registration by the deadline, an additional 72-hour grace period is available before total service suspension.

The registration process can be completed through the official portal, registratulinea.crt.gob.mx, or via the respective mobile carrier's website. Users must provide their mobile number, verify it via SMS, upload a photo of their official identification, and complete a liveness test. Upon successful completion, a registration code will be sent via SMS.

The CRT has established a staggered calendar for registration based on the last digit of mobile numbers. Following the deadline for lines ending in '1', numbers ending in '2' will have until September 15, and those ending in '3' until September 30. The schedule continues through October and November for numbers ending in '4' through '7', and concludes in December for lines ending in '8' and '9'.
