Mexico Launches Strategy Against Digital Violence, Plans Workshops Nationwide

Mexico's Secretariat of Women has initiated a national training strategy aimed at preventing digital violence among professionals and users of the LIBRE Centers. This program, developed in collaboration with a telephone company, features workshops focused on privacy protection, self-care, personal data management, and the creation of secure digital environments.

The initiative, titled "Secure Digital Environments for Women," commenced in Nayarit, involving professionals and users from the state's 19 LIBRE Centers. The Secretariat plans to progressively extend this program to all 32 federal entities across Mexico. The program seeks to enhance participants' digital capabilities and provide them with essential tools to identify online risks, safeguard their personal information, and foster informed digital citizenship.

In collaboration with the federal agency, the telecommunications company is contributing to the development and delivery of content centered on responsible technology use, the prevention of digital violence, and online safety. Sessions will offer guidance on privacy settings, personal data protection, and secure internet navigation, with the overarching goal of cultivating digital spaces founded on respect, consent, and shared responsibility.

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate. The training incorporates a gender perspective and intersectionality, forming part of a broader strategy to advance digital education and strengthen protection mechanisms for women in virtual environments.
