Mexico reminds seniors about INAPAM card benefits ahead of Grandparents' Day

As Mexico approaches Grandparents' Day on August 28, the Secretariat of Welfare and the National Institute for Adults in Older Persons (INAPAM) are highlighting the benefits of the INAPAM card. This official credential offers ongoing economic support to individuals aged 60 and above.

The INAPAM card grants access to a nationwide network of agreements with various businesses, public institutions, and service providers. These agreements offer direct reductions on the daily expenses of cardholders, helping to alleviate financial burdens for older adults. The program is particularly relevant as the year 2026 approaches, with many seniors seeking clarity on the validity and benefits of their INAPAM credentials.

Applying for the card is a free, in-person process conducted at designated service modules across the country. To be eligible, applicants must be 60 years or older and present required documentation. This includes a legible birth certificate, a valid official identification (such as an INE voter card, passport, or professional license), the updated Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), and a recent proof of address not older than six months (e.g., utility bills, bank statements).

Applicants also need to provide a recent passport-style photograph and contact information for an emergency contact, including their CURP and phone number. To find the nearest service center, individuals can consult the official platform of the Secretariat of Welfare. Authorities have clarified that all previously issued INAPAM cards remain valid, regardless of their issue date or design, and replacements are only necessary for cards that are severely deteriorated or illegible.
