Mexico's FGR summons seven navy members in Farías Laguna case, opening new investigation phase

Mexico's Attorney General's Office (FGR) has summoned seven navy members for ministerial interviews as part of the investigation into Vice Admiral Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna. Farías Laguna faces charges related to hydrocarbons.

The FGR accepted a request from the defense team, scheduling the interviews for Thursday with the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Organized Crime Matters (FEMDO). The defense lawyers will conduct the interviews, with a federal public prosecutor present throughout the proceedings. The office issued an official notice dated July 22, 2026, formalizing the request.

The defense views this step as a significant advancement for their legal strategy, incorporating testimonies from naval personnel into the investigation file. The staggered interviews with the seven marines are considered a new phase, allowing the perspectives of Semar (Secretary of the Navy) members to be formally integrated into the ministerial record.

Attention is now focused on what the marines might reveal.
