Mexico's historic triumph at Central American Games: 'Mexico has talent,' says sports chief

Mexico celebrated a historic achievement at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, securing an unprecedented 407 medals and claiming the top spot in the medal tally for the third consecutive time.

During a ceremony, Conade Director General Rommel Pacheco lauded the delegation's success, attributing it to the discipline and sacrifice of the athletes. "407 medals; Mexico is three-time Central American champion and this is the best participation in the country's history," Pacheco stated. He emphasized that this success was not accidental, but the result of overcoming defeats and rising again.

Pacheco also highlighted the significant contribution of female athletes, who brought home 198 medals, including 83 golds. "The women did a great job, with 198 medals and 83 golds. All this shows what happens when there is support," he said, underscoring that the medals represent the outcome, but not the full story of the athletes' journey.

The government invested 1 billion pesos in the athletes' preparation and 60 million for their participation in the games. Pacheco assured that this support would continue for the upcoming Pan American and Olympic Games, reinforcing the belief that "Mexico has talent."
