Mexico's PAN Party Launches 2027 Election Strategy, Appoints BCS Coordinator

Mexico's National Action Party (PAN) has formally launched a nationwide campaign to organize and strengthen its territorial presence ahead of the 2027 elections. The initiative, dubbed "Defense of the Fatherland, Family, and Freedom," involves appointing key coordinators in each state to lead the party's efforts.

In Baja California Sur, the PAN's National Executive Committee has appointed Francisco Pelayo as the state coordinator. Party president Jorge Romero Herrera presented Pelayo with his official certification, highlighting that this appointment is part of a broader national strategy to identify and empower strong local leaders. Romero stated that these leaders must be competitive, accessible to citizens, and capable of championing the issues that concern Mexican families.

Romero expressed confidence in Pelayo's ability to lead the party's efforts in Baja California Sur, citing his experience, competitiveness, and understanding of the state. He emphasized that Pelayo's role is to foster organization, unity, and grassroots work to bolster the PAN's standing in the region. Pelayo, in turn, thanked the party for its trust and commitment to placing citizens at the forefront of its decisions, expressing optimism about working with millions of Mexicans to restore Mexico's and Baja California Sur's "greatness and hope."

The PAN's strategy aims to counter the ruling party, which Romero referred to as a "guinda tumor," a derogatory term often used by the opposition. The party seeks to mobilize its base and present itself as a viable alternative by focusing on core values and addressing what it perceives as the current administration's shortcomings. The appointments are seen as a crucial step in rebuilding the party's electoral strength and preparing for the upcoming electoral contests.
