Mexico's President Offers UNAM-Rejected Students Spots at Rosario Castellanos University

President Claudia Sheinbaum has opened the doors of the Rosario Castellanos University to students rejected from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), citing irregularities detected in UNAM's online entrance examination. This initiative aims to ensure that all young people seeking higher education can pursue their studies.

The decision comes as a special commission established by UNAM investigates the flawed online admission process for the 2026-2027 academic year. Sheinbaum has directed the Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, to collaborate with the rector of Rosario Castellanos University and other institutions to provide opportunities for students who did not pass the UNAM exam. "The important thing is that all young people who want to study at university can study at university," Sheinbaum stated, emphasizing her commitment to accessible education.

Sheinbaum also highlighted her administration's efforts to expand educational infrastructure, ensuring that no student is left without a school. The president stressed that Mexico will "never put our independence at risk," a statement made during her visit to Santo Domingo Tonalá, Oaxaca, where she led the Lázaro Cárdenas plan for road reconstruction.

In Oaxaca, the president announced further infrastructure developments, including projects for water systems and new tariffs for municipal treatment plants. She also noted plans for school and health center improvements to ensure adequate operation and medication availability. Additionally, she recognized the contributions of artisans and paid tribute to indigenous peoples, referencing historical figures like Benito Juárez and Lázaro Cárdenas del Río.
