Mexico's Sheinbaum, Brazil's Lula discuss trade, energy cooperation

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum held a video call with her Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday, August 13. The leaders reviewed significant joint progress in trade and explored potential collaboration between Mexico's state-owned oil company Pemex and Brazil's Petrobras.

During the conversation, Sheinbaum acknowledged Lula da Silva's achievements leading Brazil. She noted the country's economy maintains growth above three percent, with moderated inflation, increased employment, and a significant reduction in unemployment. She also highlighted the strengthening of the minimum wage, the recovery of family income, and social advancements improving the lives of millions of Brazilians.

Sheinbaum stated that Mexico and Brazil share a vision of prosperity, well-being, and sovereignty. She expressed confidence that coordinated efforts can further strengthen economic, commercial, and energy ties, aiming to build an increasingly solid bilateral relationship for the benefit of both nations. The Mexican president was accompanied by Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco during the call.
