Mexico's Sheinbaum to attend World Cup final in New York after Trump invitation

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is set to travel to New York this Saturday to attend the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, having accepted a direct invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump. Sheinbaum confirmed her attendance, stating it was a direct invitation from the U.S. president.

Sources indicate that Sheinbaum will depart from Cancún, Quintana Roo, on a commercial flight to the United States. She will be accompanied by a small group of collaborators. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the New York-New Jersey stadium, also known as MetLife Stadium.

While U.S. President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney are also expected to be present at the event, a trilateral meeting to discuss other issues is not currently scheduled.
