Mexico Seizes Massive Methamphetamine Haul in Cartel Territory

Mexican authorities have intercepted a massive shipment of 24,400 liters of liquid methamphetamine in Sinaloa, a territory dominated by the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, once led by Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán. The Secretariat of Security reported the seizure on Monday, noting it represents the second-largest confiscation of this drug in Mexico's history. The operation, conducted by the National Guard, Mexican Army, and the Attorney General's Office, also resulted in the seizure of two tons of cocaine in separate operations in Tlaxcala and Guerrero. Officials reported the arrest of one man during the methamphetamine bust in Los Mochis. The increased drug seizures and arrests come amid pressure from the United States, with President Donald Trump urging the Mexican government to curb drug trafficking across the shared border. Sinaloa state has been experiencing internal cartel conflicts since 2024, leading to numerous killings and disappearances. "El Chapo" Guzmán is currently serving a life sentence in the United States.
