Mexico State PAN Foresees Many Citizen Candidates in Eastern Areas; 'We Will Have a Good Number,' They Assure

The National Action Party (PAN) in Mexico State expects to present a significant number of candidates without prior party affiliation in the eastern region and the Volcanic Zone for the upcoming 2027 electoral process. Anuar Azar Figueroa, the state PAN president, acknowledged that the party has faced challenges gaining traction in this area but expressed optimism about attracting new talent.

Figueroa noted that individuals with natural leadership qualities and no existing party membership have approached PAN during recent tours, expressing their desire to run for office. "There are good people there, natural leaders, who have approached the tours to tell us: I want to be a candidate," he said. The party leader emphasized that PAN believes the strongest alliance is with citizens and is actively seeking the best profiles to compete, defend families, and advocate for the changes the residents of Mexico State deserve.

As part of the selection process for Coordinators of Change and Family Defenders in various municipalities, the party is opening candidacies to non-militants. The first phase involves selecting municipal coordinators in 12 key areas, including Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec, Huixquilucan, Ixtapaluca, Metepec, Naucalpan, Nezahualcóyotl, Nicolás Romero, Toluca, and Tlalnepantla. Interested individuals can register until July 20. Following this, a validation process, signature collection, and surveys will take place from July 20 to August 30 to identify candidates with strong citizen backing and community recognition. The final selection of municipal coordinators is scheduled for August 31, after which the party will move on to designating district coordinators and solidifying its territorial structure throughout the state.
