Mexico to Send Two Ships of Aid to Venezuela, Support for Cuba Planned

Mexico is set to dispatch two ships carrying humanitarian aid to Venezuela in the coming weeks, with the Secretariat of the Navy also preparing to send support to Cuba. President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed Mexico's commitment to respecting the sovereignty of all peoples while providing assistance.

"We had been sending support to Venezuela, to Cuba, another shipment is still going that the people organized to bring supplies to Venezuela. Two ships will go in the coming weeks from the Secretariat of the Navy, and we will continue sending support to Cuba. And through Amexcid, there is a lot of collaboration with Cuba," Sheinbaum stated during a press conference.

Her remarks came after a large march held on Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City the previous Sunday. Participants demanded an end to the United States blockade against Cuba, cessation of threats of military intervention on the island, and the resumption of oil shipments from Mexico to Cuba.

During the conference, Sheinbaum was questioned about the march and reiterated Mexico's stance on the sovereignty of nations and its continued support for the Cuban people. She mentioned speaking with Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, who helps coordinate this work, and the Secretariat of the Navy regarding the new support for the island.

The march saw various groups gather, chanting slogans such as "Cuba yes, blockade no!", "Cuba is not alone, Trump is wrong!", "Cuba yes, Yankees no!", and "Mexican oil for the Cuban people!" The demonstrators proceeded towards the former U.S. embassy.
