MFM Ends Zenith Bank League’s Atlantic Conference Phase 1 Unbeaten

The MFM Women Basketball team has laid down a strong marker in the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball League, concluding the Atlantic Conference Phase 1 without a single loss. Their dominant performance includes a decisive 62-37 victory over league record holders First Bank in the final game of the phase.

This unbeaten run positions MFM as strong contenders to reclaim the title they lost to Dolphins last season. They topped the Atlantic Conference standings with a perfect seven wins. Victoria Queens secured second place with six wins and one loss, while First Bank trailed in third with five wins and two losses.

Other notable results from the phase include Bayelsa Blue Whales defeating IGP Queens 69-32, and Victoria Queens continuing their surprise run with a 65-49 win over First Deep Water. Defending champions Dolphins struggled, losing another game to Royal Aces 49-39, leaving them in sixth place with only two wins.

The league now shifts focus to the Savannah Conference, which concludes today in Jos. Customs is currently leading the standings, ahead of Aso Queens and Air Warriors. Teams will reconvene in Port Harcourt in September for the Second Phase of the competition.
