Miaoli hosts "Cat Li Cup" Beyblade competition with 512 players

The "Cat Li Cup" Beyblade Open Competition took place at the Miaoli Dome Gymnasium, drawing 512 contestants for one of the largest Beyblade events in Miaoli's history. The tournament, organized by the Miaoli County Government and Miaoli City Office, saw participants of all ages competing fiercely.

A key feature of this year's competition was the initial round's overseas doubles format. Each team consisted of two players who had to strategize using three Beyblades per player, with a total of 18 parts that could not be duplicated within a team. This format tested the teams' tactical planning and coordination. Players who advanced moved on to an individual elimination round, battling for the title of the first "Cat Li Cup" champion.

The competition encouraged mixed-age team participation, allowing parent-child pairs, siblings, classmates, or friends to team up. This fostered a sense of shared enjoyment and highlighted the cross-generational appeal of Beyblade. County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin, Legislator Chiu Chen-chun, and Miaoli Mayor Yu Wen-chung officiated the opening ceremony, with Chung expressing the county government's commitment to promoting the sport.

Beyblade enthusiasts noted the sport's popularity and the value of the toys, with prices ranging from NT$400 to NT$20,000. Imported from countries like Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam, Beyblades are currently in high demand. Players also mentioned that Beyblades can hold their value, with a NT$2,000 Beyblade potentially reselling for over NT$1,000 after a competition. The event offered substantial prizes for advancing players, including popular items like the "Whirlwind Launcher" and various battle sets, with the top three winners receiving exclusive trophies and a high-value battle set worth approximately NT$5,500.
