Mike Batiste returns to Panathinaikos as assistant coach

Basketball legend Mike Batiste is returning to Panathinaikos, this time joining the coaching staff of Zeljko Obradovic. Batiste has agreed to a three-year contract, marking his second stint with the Greek club and his reunion with the coach under whom he achieved significant success as a player.

Obradovic sought individuals with deep knowledge of Panathinaikos, its culture, and the demands of championship-level competition. Batiste, who had a storied playing career with the club, is seen as a perfect fit for this vision. During his time as a player, he won 19 titles with Panathinaikos, including three EuroLeague championships.

Batiste's transition to coaching follows his recent role as an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors. The prospect of returning to Panathinaikos and accepting Obradovic's invitation proved decisive in his career move. His responsibilities are expected to include mentoring, video analysis, and specialized work with the team's big men.
